The No Send Letter

Anthony da Costa’s upcoming full-length album, The No Send Letter, is his twelfth record to date and documents the most difficult, transformative breakup of his life and the echoes of past pain that reverberated through it.

In the aftermath, the album was self-produced and recorded between da Costa’s Pleasantville Recording studio in Nashville and a barn studio in Virginia. The songs poured out, and he documented them quickly and tenaciously. Recorded across several formats, including digital, analog reel to reel, and cassette tape, da Costa threw out any production rules he may have held, emerging with a record that’s luminously reflective, sonically revelatory and raw. The album’s deep emotional transparency stems from the idea of a “no send letter”: the concept that you can write down everything you truly want to say to someone with no filter or hesitation. And then you simply do not send it. You burn it and release it.

His dear community of friends and collaborators in Nashville can be heard throughout the album.
